This Kato ACF 2-Bay Covered Hopper 8-Pack includes cars decorated and numbered for two different railroads. The covered hopper is based on prototypes introduced in 1940's, manufactured by American Car & Foundry, built throughout 1950's and operated well in to 1980's. This hopper is one of the most popular non-boxcar pieces of equipment to roll on North American rails. These versatile hoppers were used to transport granular bulk commodities, such as sand, concrete, powdered lime, and sugar. Some are still in service today, primarily in Maintenance of Way (MOW) service. The models feature fine detailing, optimized weights, ASF Ride Control trucks with metal wheels and Kato magnetic knuckle couplers. This eight-pack includes cars that will look great on transition and diesel-era freight trains. Roadnames and roadnumbers in the set include: Santa Fe ATSF 181555, 181610; Chicago, Burlington and Quincy CB&Q 182266, 182301, Chesapeake and Ohio C&O 800, 1010; and Union Pacific UP 210, 409.
