Based on where railroads transferred freight cars onto barges the Walthers Cornerstone HO Scale Carfloat Apron is where all the rail-marine action takes place. The Carfloat Apron structure consists of a moving apron (similar to a bridge) that can be locked to the float. This keeps the tracks aligned during switching and allows the barge and the apron to move up and down with the tides. Counterweights and lifting machinery are housed in the towers at the end of the apron.
